> Master Data Management > Data Classification iTrust Security creates a taxonomy or
organization structure for the data, based on specifications. This taxonomy can
be supplied by the customer and modified. It can be an industry standard
taxonomy such as UNSPSC or eClass, or it can be based on iTrust’s existing
classification schema. iTrust develops this taxonomy to the lowest or leaf class
level, so that each specific item in the customer’s data has a unique class
(i.e., carriage bolts have a carriage bolt class, which is different from a
machine screw class.) |
|
iTrust creates the data
dictionary, the list of attributes (descriptions) required for each class, and
the valid values for each attribute. This enables subsequent production
processes to classify each item/part correctly and assign the correct values to
each item’s attributes.
 |
|
By classifying each item properly and
providing detailed attributes for each class, it enables the customer to search
and find the desired items. Depending on the types of attributes provided, the
customer could perform parametric searches, keyword or fuzzy logic searches, as
well as perform ad-hoc queries, filtering, and sorting.
